ABOUT VOY

Voice of the Youth Inc. is a professional non-profit organization that works with at-risk adolescent and teenage youth providing Mentoring, Life Skills and Support Services to assist them in both acquiring skills, and achieving goals that will aid in the development of a successful career and life. Voice of the Youth, Inc. (VOY, Inc.) an organization committed to empowering at risk youth to expand their vision and realize their dreams through mentorship.

VOY Inc. along with our Mentoring, Life Skills and Support Service Program, has a long-term commitment to helping at-risk youth build the skills they need to succeed in life.  VOY is very excited to be in partnership with CARES, Sacramento Volunteers, Sisters of NIA, American River College, You Can Go To College, Hundred Black Men, Shine On Sisters, Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento Unified School District, Skin Deep Finishing Institute Inc. Sacramento City College, CELI Inc. and The Sacramento Job Corp. where we implement our program to the youth population. Our mission is to help at-risk youth achieve their goals, and help create a safer community in which we live.

Our program is conscious of the changing demographics in our center’s service area and are committed to growing and adapting our center to meet the emerging needs. VOY Inc. impressive Mentoring, Life Skills and Support Service Program plays a vital role in the lives of at-risk youth in Job Corps. of Sacramento, as evidenced by our 92% approval rating from our participants in 2010. We provide comprehensive access to health and social services to the youth enrolled in Job Corp.

Our program is ran on a 12-week cycle and since its inception as a non-profit in 2008, Voices of the Youth mentoring program with activities and support services has catered to the specific needs of at-risk youth. Our program has addressed the health; social, recreational, and financial needs of the youth and our Mentoring, Life Skills and Support Service Program have been proven effective to work not only in after-school programs, youth groups and group homes but also in the toughest of environments.

VOY Inc. primarily works with at risk youth who are from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds. They are also predominantly youth who are in foster care, emancipated minors, teenage mothers, enrolled in court mandated programs, reside in public and low income housing, youth who have been victims of violent crimes, prostitution, rape, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and parental neglect.  It’s our mission at VOY Inc. to mentor, engage and supply needed services to our youth with the hopes that one day they will pay it forward by becoming the mentor.

We aim to be a leading organization; providing training, mentorship, and motivation as we foster an atmosphere of growth wherein youth can advance towards greatness. We innovatively help our clients gain insight and self-awareness through interactive group discussion and age-appropriate activities.

VOY services are a valuable resource for guiding our youth on the road to stable and productive lives.  We emphasize the simple philosophy of PPC (Patience, Passion, and Consistency). Our clients experience the empowering transition from victim to victor by discovering how not to allow trials, tribulation, or pride to serve as obstacles on the journey to success!
